This is a unique leadership programme for women in cyber security and resilience, delivered by Empowering You and in association with the Scottish Digital Academy, Scottish Government and ScotlandIS. The aim is to build a collaborative and powerful community of emerging women leaders in cyber security roles across all industry sectors. Delivered over 3 months from September-November 2022, Empowering Women to Lead Cyber Security is designed to enable the transition of aspirational and early-mid career executives and managers into confident, capable and motivated leaders. A key element of this programme will be a team project designed to make a positive difference to the pace and success of cyber security and resilience in Scotland, for both the economy and society.

Participants in the 2021 Scotland programme share their experience ->

The course equips participants with the knowledge and behavioural insights required for successful leadership, embedding and functionalising new learnings as real world behaviour and action. Team Collaboration Challenge for Scotland

In conjunction with the various course elements, participants will undertake a Team Collaboration Challenge. The purpose of this is to deepen and extend the courses learning outcomes and for the participant to extend the portfolio of evidence around their capability.

The aims and scope of this small project will be decided by participants with input from the Scottish Digital Academy, Scottish Government and ScotlandIS. Participants will be seen to be delivering something of lasting value to the Scotland cyber security and digital community. The project will provide opportunities for the participant to consolidate and demonstrate new skills and to make a wider difference for Scotland.

Project Ideas:

  • create a Scotland 'umbrella' group to collaborate and share experience on cyber security

  • identify key skills gaps and bridging strategies

  • identify ways to increase recruitment and retention of women into cyber security roles

Organisation Sponsor

Each participant will be encouraged to identify an organisation workplace sponsor who will support them during the programme. The primary role of the sponsor will be to act as a sounding board for thoughts and ideas and to help ensure the participant feels supported and energised. In many cases the role of workplace sponsor falls naturally to the participant’s manager, however this also presents an opportunity to connect and gain mentor support from an executive or senior colleague.

Pricing and Application

This is a free but selective programme. Participants will be selected by a panel based on applications received and to achieve a diverse industry representation. Each applicant will be required to complete an application form for consideration.
